PASOs Welcomes Two New Team Members

 Areyonna Keels is the AmeriCorps VISTA working with the Charleston Tri-County PASOs team. She works with capacity building to help facilitate the growth and expansion of the PASOs Tri-County programs through outreach and data management. She also works to improve the visibility of the PASOs program to help identify and establish relationships with community partners. Areyonna started with PASOs in August of 2017.

Areyonna is from Columbia, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Coker College in Spanish Language and Latin American Studies in 2015. She became interested in the Latino community after working abroad in South and Central America. That experience inspired her to work with the Latino community here in South Carolina.

Maribel Luna Sanchez is a Community Health Worker in the Lowcountry currently engaged in the Connections for Child Development program. Maribel has worked with PASOs before, interning with PASOs while in college from 2013-2015. Maribel was then offered to stay with PASOs to coordinate a pilot program, “Steps to School Readiness for Latino Children in the Lowcountry”, funded by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, in which CHWs would complete ASQ-3 questionnaires with families with children under 5. The pilot ended in 2016, but later became Connections for Child Development. Maribel returned to PASOs in October of 2017.Maribel was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico moved to SC in 2000. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services and a minor in Spanish from the University of South Carolina Beaufort. She is certified to be a Parent Educator in the Beaufort County School District.
